Every year there is that ONE toy that is in high demand. This year is no different with the Hatchimals. So if you find yourself with a child just begging for a Hatchimal what are you going to do? Well, you have a few options.
1. You can camp out at the stores on Black Friday.
Walmart will even have them on sale! Now, the number each store will get will vary and there is a really great chance that all of the other lovely people in line are also waiting to snatch one up so be quick.
I also suggest being friendly with the employees that are stocking the shelves at your local stores. Ask them when they get new shipments in and if they know of any that are going to arrive.
2. You can hunt for one.
If you want to try to find one at retail price I do have a few tips for you. Target is one of my favorite places and here is why. You can use an inventory checker to see if there are any in stock at your local and surrounding stores.
You will need these codes to be able to check:
According to this – there is actually one available Bearakeet in my local Target store!
Also, check online. I’ve heard that the best time to check is around 11 PM and then again between 3-4 AM. This seems to be the time they are restocking and replenishing. Don’t forget to add your zip code so it will be checking your local store.
3. You can order one on Amazon.
Yes, you can order one on Amazon. (Or Ebay) But be prepared – they aren’t the $60 they would be in the store.
4. Get one after the Christmas craziness is over.
I know. I know. I get it. 150%. I understand that as a parent you want to see that look of amazement in your child’s eyes when they see the tree and realize that Santa has been there. I get wanting them to open up the gift and the look on their face when they realize THIS is the gift. THIS is the one that they have been begging for. But I also understand that A) if you wait a little while they could have a whole Hatchimal army for the cost of one at Christmas time. B) You don’t have to lose your mind, wait in line, in the cold, at 2 in the morning fighting off other people for a toy. And C) Christmas is so busy filled with so many new things and is just exciting! While your child might be a little disappointed at first, they will have so many other things to keep them busy and happy.
And because I know that as a parent, I don’t want my child to not believe in the magic of Christmas or think that Santa forgot them I present to you…the letter. (Also known as the Mom-And-Dad-Can-Save-Their-Sanity-Restore-Christmas-Miracles-And-Not-Break-The-Bank letter.)
Yep. Just print it off, and mail it to your house to your child. I would recommend mailing the letter before Christmas, just so your child knows there probably isn’t going to be a Hatchimal under the tree. (And if you find one – total surprise!!) But this gives you a chance to talk to your child and make sure that they understand Santa hasn’t forgotten them and eliminates any disappointment that may have happened. (Although again, Christmas is full of excitement! It’s hard to be disappointed on Christmas!)
Your child is happy and you have extra time to find a Hatchimal that won’t break the bank. And to be honest, it’s kind of a bigger surprise because your child doesn’t know when their special gift will be delivered! Imagine how exciting it will be for them to wake up one morning and there it is!
Don’t forget to pin.
